Alone on a lifeboat

--

I somehow made it to the middle of the sea

On a lifeboat

With nothing but pure sanity

I struggle to see anything but the blue

No clouds in the sky

The truth in clear view

I doddle along with the push of the wave

I finally smile

For I am saved

Saved from a life

A life that we crave

A life tainted black

One leads one astray

Connections dissolve

In the world everyday

But my troubles resolve

As I float away

Alone on a lifeboat

My happiest place

A life without loathing

A life without waste

I taste the sea salt

At the tip of my tongue

A reminder of freedom

Of how far I’ve come
